The Fees and Benefits of HBA Membership 2017-18

Updated August 2017

Membership of Badminton England and Hertfordshire Badminton Association (HBA) is automatic to those who belong to an HBA affiliated club.

BE Membership renewals now open for 2017/18  - see bottom of this page

Badminton England and HBA membership renewals are now open for the 2017/18 season. BE head Office have brought the season forward to start on Friday 1 September to allow clubs more time to prepare for the season ahead.

HBA have already set up their financial details on the new system and are ready to collect your County Fees directly.

You can access the Membership system here

Support for clubs

Badminton England have created a number of tutorial videos to assist clubs with setting up their profile and renewing their members.

Reminder of the key changes

If you take part in any of the following events you will need a Competition Licence:

·       Badminton England events:

·       Masters, Seniors and Juniors Circuit Series – Bronze, Silver, Gold

·       English National Championship Series

·       County Competitions:

·       U-18 Inter-County Tournament (ICT)

·       Senior County Championships

A competition license is automatically part of affiliating as a “COMPETE member”, rather than just a “PLAY member”.

Compete members can be registered through a club or directly.

If individuals do not know which membership they may want during the season, it is recommended that they start off as “Play members” as they can always upgrade subsequently to “Compete”. The upgrade from Play to Compete costs £10.

If a player affiliates as a PLAY member but is then asked to play in a one-off County match, they can just pay a £5 competition fee. However, by having the Compete membership, it stops the individual having to pay £5 each time.

The Fees and Benefits of HBA Membership 2017-18

Membership of Badminton England and Hertfordshire Badminton Association is automatic to those who belong to an HBA affiliated club.

The Herts county fees for 2017/18 have been reduced:

The senior fee has been reduced to £3.00 and there is   no county charge for a junior member.

If you would like your badminton club to affiliate to Badminton England and Hertfordshire Badminton Association, please e-mail Badminton England at membership@badmintonengland.co.uk with a copy to the Herts Registration Secretary, Colin Walker at colin.walker4@ntlworld.com, with the following information:

1.   Name of club

2.   Full address

3.   County in which your club resides

4.   Details of the club main contact (who will be responsible for your club renewals):

Full Name,
First Line Of Address,
Postcode,
Email Address,
Date of Birth,
Contact Telephone Number

Once Badminton England have received the above details, your club will be added onto their system and your individual club login will be sent to you. You will then be required to access the Badminton England’s online Membership system adding all your members’ details.

Registered coaches, Club England Active and Supporter members join Badminton England directly, so they are HBA members by virtue of their fees paid directly to Badminton England. However, the county is usually only informed by Badminton England of these members at the end of the season. If you are in this group and would like to immediately receive HBA Newsletters and other membership advantages, please contact the Herts Registrations Secretary, Colin Walker - colin.walker4@ntlworld.com.

Wimbledon Summer Team Tournament 21st & 22nd July 2018

One of the best team tournaments in the badminton calendar is back in 2018 at the Wimbledon Racquets & Fitness Club.

The Wimbledon Summer Team tournament has been going for over 10 years and in that time has gone from strength to strength. It's a fabulous competitive and fun

Team event but also a fantastic social event on the Saturday night with disco, BBQ and fancy dress.

Anyone who has played Gold or Silver Senior events, or has represented their county at Senior Level or is a Division 1, 2 club player would be eligible and enjoy this event.

Each team consists of three men and three women ranked one to three. Each team will play a minimum of five hybrid matches over the two days. A hybrid match consists of 9 rubbers ( 1 game to 21), 3 men's doubles, 3 women's doubles and 3 mixed.

Entry fee of £44 per player (£264 per team) is great value as it includes all the weekends badminton, party pass to disco and BBQ (which is great food) and a free Tournament Shirt. Cash prizes are available for at least first and second placed teams plus other prizes available.

If you are interested or want to find out more, please find attached link to the entry form

or please contact the tournament organiser Tracy Dineen Tracy.Dineen@gmail.com. Places are limited and this is a popular event so don't delay!!
