Herts players win Gold at the World Senior Championships

Congratulations to Herts players Liz Austin and Caroline Hale who both made the podium twice at the recent World Senior Badminton Championships in Poland.

Caroline and Liz took Silver in the 50+ women’s doubles, dominating their half of the draw but losing in the final to a strong Japanese pair. Caroline took Gold in the 50+ women’s singles, beating the No.1 seed in the semi-final and going on get her revenge on one of her Japanese opponents in the final in two tight games. Liz took Gold in the 50+ mixed doubles with her partner Rajeev Bagga (Warwickshire). Liz and Rajeev didn’t drop a game in the whole tournament, concluding with a clinical 21-13, 21-14 victory over an Indian pair who had taken out several seeds on their way to the final.
