Report on the Hertfordshire Senior Silver (“Open”) 2024
This season’s Hertfordshire Senior Silver (“Open”) tournament took place on Saturday 31 August and Sunday 1 September 2024 at the Hertfordshire Sports Village. Over 120 players from across the country took part and Hertfordshire was well represented with both juniors and seniors looking to get tournament practice early in the season. All events were played up to and including the quarter finals on the Saturday, with the semi-finals and finals of all the events on the Sunday. The results were as follows,
Open Singles
Harry Huang (no 1 ranked player in England) beat Nadeem Dalvi 21-11, 21-15
Ladies Singles
Aahna Batia (Hertfordshire) beat Zi Yang 21-12, 22-20
Open Doubles
Adam Porter & Samuel Weekes beat Alex & Toby Dillingham 12-21, 21-18, 21-18
Ladies Doubles
Lisa Curtain & Pamela Reyes beat Jessica Allen & Abbie Smith (Herts) 21-17, 21-18
Mixed Doubles
Jacob Weekes & Katherine Arksey beat Harry Goode & Abbie Smith (Herts) 21-19, 21-15
Overall, it was another successful Herts Open tournament, generally played in good spirit with lots of excellent badminton. I would like to thank Mike Newlove, Jo Williams, Simon Gouldstone, Tim Jalland and Mike Wong for all their help over the weekend which ensured the tournament ran as smoothly as possible.
