This season’s Hertfordshire Senior Silver (“Open”) tournament took place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September 2026 at the Hertfordshire Sports Village. Over 120 players from across the country took part, with both juniors and seniors looking to get tournament practice early in the season. All events were played up to and including the quarter finals on the Saturday, with the semi-finals and finals of all the events on the Sunday. The results were as follows:
Open Singles
Rhys Williams (who is only 15!) beat Mebel Manu Kurian (who’s only 18!) 21-19, 21-13
Ladies Singles
Tranthini Kumaravel beat Sophie Ford 21-19, 21-13
Open Doubles
Harry Lines & Max Flynn beat Harry Goode (Herts) & Rowan Clark 21-17, 21-7
Ladies Doubles
Annie & Natasha Lado beat Anne Hubscher & Magda-Sabrina Lozniceriu 21-15, 18-21, 21-15
Mixed Doubles
Ollie Baczala & Annie Lado beat Harry Lines & Susanna Ogden 21-12, 21-17
Overall, it was another successful Herts Open tournament, generally played in good spirit with lots of excellent badminton. I would like to thank Mike Newlove, Jo Williams, Nick Goode, Finley Goode, Mike Wong and Liang Lu for all their help over the weekend, which ensured the tournament ran as smoothly as possible.
